According to a job posting, it seems Apple is interested in the crypto space. While the job listing does not mention cryptocurrencies exactly, it refers to what Apple describes as “alternative payments.”

It is no secret that Apple has been eyeing financial technology. The corporation does have systems such as Apple Pay, and they recently debuted the Apple Card. Could the corporation, however, be looking into cryptocurrencies as well?

Suggestions For Apple Job Postings Interest in Cryptocurrency

“The Apple Wallets, Payments, and Commerce (WPC) team is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive Alternative Payments Partnerships,” according to the job description. We are seeking a seasoned expert in worldwide alternative and developing payment solutions.

It also requires “5+ years experience working in or with alternative payment providers, such as digital wallets, BNPL, Fast Payments, cryptocurrencies, and so on,” as well as “deep knowledge” of alternative payments, understanding the complexity of money flows, etc.

Depending on how far you read into the job description, the fact that Apple has referenced cryptocurrencies in their job description for the WPC team is what has piqued the most interest.

Is Cryptocurrency On The Rise?

Cryptocurrency has grown in popularity in recent months, with corporations such as Paypal, Tesla, and others widely adopting it. Apple’s engagement in this field has the potential to propel Bitcoin and related technologies to new heights.

Apple may allow iPhone users to store cryptocurrency in the Wallet app and possibly use Apple Pay to make cryptocurrency payments to retailers.

Having said that, it’s intriguing to see if this is heading in the direction of cryptocurrencies. This is since Apple CEO Tim Cook declared in 2019 that he was not a fan of the technology. “I genuinely think that money must remain in the hands of states,” he was reported as saying. I’m not convinced that a private party can build a competitive currency.

Who knows whether he’s changed his mind since then?
