Falls and aging — the need for biomedical solutions to a global problem

Through her work, she investigates various assistive technologies and robotics aimed toward improving balance in elderly individuals and survivors of stroke. Thompson is the founding director of the Biomedical Engineering Program and the Center for Biomechanical & Rehabilitation Engineering at the University of the District of Columbia.
