– Darren Langley (Rocket Pool)

– Vasiliy Shapovalov (Lido)

– Ejaaz Ahamadeen (Coinbase)

With Ethereum’s switch to Proof-of-Stake around the corner, a full spectrum of staking options has emerged. Many who want to participate will not be able to run their own self-custodied 24/7 validator node, and not everyone has the required 32 ETH. For these folks, Staking-as-a-Service allows broader participation in the PoS consensus mechanism. To discuss this, team members from Coinbase, Lido, and Rocket Pool come together in this panel to explore their approaches to the world of ETH staking.

  • The History of Electronic Markets | Tarun Chitra: Tarun Chitra is co-founder of Gauntlet, a financial modeling platform for crypto. Tarun is a thought leader in the space and is an expert in a variety of topics surrounding DeFi. He discusses the history of electronic markets, and how we’re in the third wave of this phenomenon.

  • The Power of Mimetic Desire | Luke Burgis: Luke Burgis is an author, entrepreneur, and professor. In his new book Wanting, Luke discusses the mimetic (mimicking) roots of our desires and behaviors. Viewing our species from this lens yields a vast wealth of insights about the nature of society, and we discuss how the internet (and crypto) pose to dramatically shift our understanding of these things.
  • Introducing ShapeShift DAO | Erik Voorhees (SotN 7/21): ShapeShift recently announced its plans to evolve into a community-owned, decentralized platform. In addition, they held the largest airdrop in crypto history with over 1 million eligible addresses. The hosts bring on (former?) CEO Erik Voorhees to discuss the transition, and how it could be paving the way for all legacy corporations.
  • The Rise of Axie Infinity | Jeff ‘Jiho’ Zirlin (SotN 7/13): Axie Infinity has exploded into the mainstream in 2021. Is it just a game? Is it an economy? What does Play-to-Earn mean? Join David and Ryan as they explore the world of Axie Infinity.

  • EthCC 4 — Liberté, Égalité, Décentralisé: EthCC is back and stronger than ever! Despite the pandemic, ongoing travel restrictions and sanitary passes, the Ethereum France team hosted the fourth edition of the Ethereum Community Conference in Paris. Over 1,000 people attended the week-long affair, which saw an impressive number of side events and, as always, legendary parties. For many attendees, it was their first conference since last year’s edition, and the first time they were able to embrace their fellow Etherians since the beginning of the pandemic. For this EthCC recap panel, the hosts are joined by Kaiko CEO Ambre Soubiran, Ethereum France President Jerome de Tychey, and ParaSwap Founder Mounir Benchemled. They discussed the conference, how the ecosystem has evolved this past year, the rapid growth of DeFi and NFTs, and what to look forward to as the community continues to grow.
  • Osmosis — The AMM Protocol Built for Liquidity Providers with Sunny Aggarwal: Recently launched Osmosis is a Cosmos-based and IBC enabled AMM protocol that allows for a high level of customization by liquidity providers. As the main dex on the Cosmos network, Osmosis provides liquidity for IBC-enabled Cosmos assets like AKT and ATOM for the first time. Head of the Osmosis development team, Sunny Aggarwal, joined the show for a chat about why the protocol was built and the problem it solves, the wider Cosmos ecosystem, and the roadmap for the protocol.
  • CowSwap — Tackling the Shortcomings of AMMs with Felix Leupold: Originally started with a focus on prediction markets, Gnosis has done innovative work around automated market makers (AMMs) and decentralized exchanges for years. The latest protocol launched by the Gnosis team is CowSwap. CowSwap introduces various innovations that could improve user experience, reduce gas costs, reduce the effects of MEV and result in better outcomes for retail traders. the hosts were joined by Felix Leupold, software developer at Gnosis to discuss CowSwap and the future of decentralized exchanges.
  • Centrifuge — Introducing Real-World DeFi with Cassidy Daly & Lucas Vogelsang: Centrifuge is an open and permissionless protocol built on Polkadot and Ethereum that unlocks collateral for DeFi. Centrifuge allows for the tokenization of real-world assets such as invoices, real estate, or goods, and puts them on the blockchain. This allows users to borrow against these assets from investors. Investors lend dai in exchange for an interest rate that depends on the borrower and the asset used as collateral. The hosts were joined by Lucas Vogelsang, CEO & Centrifuge Co-founder, and Cassidy Daly, Token Design & Research at Centrifuge. They explained why they built the protocol and how it works, the first application built on top, Tinlake, its integration with other DeFi platforms such as Maker, and their vision for the future.
  • “I Want People to Know Anything That Goes Against DeFi as a Tool for Financial Liberty” Chris Blec: In this week’s episode, Camilla interviews Chris Blec, a researcher advocating for transparency in DeFi. He was first drawn to cryptocurrencies through Bitcoin. He decided to go into crypto full time, first consulting with a token project in the ICO days, and later, in late 2019, by creating a YouTube channel where he aimed to educate users on how DeFi projects work under the hood. Here is where he came across what has become his focus since; the actual centralization behind supposedly decentralized protocols. Chris realized developers behind many projects hold so-called admin keys, which offer a way to unilaterally change projects’ code and even drain users’ funds. His focus on decentralization theatre has also led him to criticize tokenized governance, which he argues could make DeFi a plutocracy.
  • “The Biggest, Clearest Bet of All is Ethereum”: In this episode the host interviews Raoul Pal, who retired from the hedge fund world at 36 years old and has run financial media company Real Vision for seven years since. He predicted the housing bubble, he was early to call the devastating effect the pandemic would have on the economy, and now he gives us his thoughts on what he sees is coming up in the next few months. Raoul believes the second half of 2021 will be worse than expected, but that the decline will be short-lived thanks to even more stimulus to be added to the global economy. This will cause risk assets to continue their climb, including crypto. And for that he’s well-positioned: he says 100% of his liquid net worth is in cryptocurrencies but if he had to own just one asset over the next 12 months, that would be ETH.
  • “It’s Almost Like EIP-1559 Fixes an Economic Bug in Ethereum; More Usage Can Now Capture More Value”: In this episode, Camilla speaks with Tim Beiko, who organizes the Ethereum core developers calls and knows all the intricacies and latest development of the world’s most active blockchain. They spoke right after Beiko had proposed date for the implementation of one of the biggest changes expected to happen to the Ethereum blockchain in recent history EIP 1559. If you’re not 100% clear on what this means, fear not, because Tim explains in non-dev terms exactly how this change will reduce volatility in Ethereum gas prices and also reduce the uncertainty of whether user transactions are approved or not. Importantly, it also means that part of ETH paid per transaction will be burned. That means that if demand for ETH and use of the Ethereum blockchain are greater than ETH issued, it should put pressure on the ether price to increase.
  • “V3 is Winding Back a Bit of the Uniswap Revolution; It’s Going to be Very Influential” Dan Robinson: In this episode, the host speaks with Dan Robinson, a research partner at Paradigm, one of the most active VC funds in DeFi and crypto. One of the fund’s investments is Unsiwap, where Dan also had a central role in the design of v3, the latest version of DeFi’s most popular decentralized exchange. Dan talks about why Uniswap was so exciting as an investment. He said at the time, many blockchain applications still involved some centralized parties and custodied funds. But Uniswap was really hands-off; A self-contained system with no admin keys. Dan talks about his big ambitions for Unisiwap — he believes that most liquidity will move to Uniswap v3 and that the new concentrated liquidity design will have an influence on the whole DEX space as more projects start to optimize for capital efficiency. It will also roll back the revolution Uniswap itself prompted, and move AMM (automated market maker) design into an order-book hybrid.
  • The Erica Show EP34 — Andra Georgescu, Co-Founder of Distrikt: In the 34th episode, Erica is joined by Andra, co-founder of Distrikt, a decentralized social media network powered by Dfinity.
