CeRq left off EG roster for BLAST Premier Spring Groups – Report

Evil Geniuses may be exploring changes to their primary roster heading into the 2023 season, reports from Dexerto and Dust2.us indicate and HLTV can corroborate.

The two outlets report that Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov has been left off the Evil Geniuses roster for the BLAST Premier Spring Groups, with Dust2.us adding that multiple sources have informed them that CeRq will no longer be a part of the roster moving forward.

His replacement for the event is unclear as Wesley “viz” Harris, Jerric “wiz” Jiang, and Jeorge “jeorgesnorts” Endicott from EG Black, EG White, and Nouns have all been listed alongside the other four members of the Evil Geniuses lineup. Out of the trio, wiz is the most likely candidate to be put in as he already is the sniper for EG Black. One source close to the team declined to comment on whether wiz would be the specific player enlisted by the team when contacted by HLTV.

CeRq is not listed on EG’s roster for the BLAST Spring Groups

CeRq has been a part of Evil Geniuses since the organization acquired the entirety of the NRG roster in 2019. The Bulgarian AWPer was named the No. 18 player of 2019 by HLTV and was a key component in the success of NRG and Evil Geniuses, helping them to title victories at ESL One New York 2019, StarSeries i-League Season 8, and IEM Shanghai 2018.

The 23-year-old sniper picked up two MVP awards during his time with the two organizations, but has struggled for form ever since the roster made changes in 2021. He previously averaged above a 1.10 rating both online and offline from 2018-2020, but his performances have drastically dropped off in the last two years; he averaged a sub-1.00 rating in both 2021 and 2022, numbers that are simply untenable for an AWPer competing at the highest level.

Timothy “autimatic” Ta could pick up the sniper should Evil Geniuses look to either viz or jeorgesnorts, with the former rifler previously playing for Party Astronauts and Triumph. jeorgesnorts, meanwhile, impressed at the IEM Road to Rio Americas RMR when playing for Nouns, averaging a 1.21 rating, and has since been seen standing in for EG Black.

wiz has averaged a 1.14 rating while a part of EG Black, but has played against substantially easier competition than his Bulgarian counterpart. A truly fierce test awaits him if Evil Geniuses do intend to play with him during their BLAST Groups campaign, with the event slated to kick off on January 19.

Evil Geniuses have listed the following players in their roster for the BLAST Spring Groups:

United States Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte
United States Timothy “autimatic” Ta

Canada Jadan “HexT” Postma
United States Jerric “wiz” Jiang
United States Wesley “viz” Harris
United States Jeorge “jeorgesnorts” Endicott

Denmark Daniel “Vorborg” Vorborg (coach)
