Casper “cadiaN” Møller and co. have joined the likes of FaZe, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and Natus Vincere in the Legends Stage of the IEM Rio Major, which means they will skip the first phase of the competition. They have earned the spot through the third-place decider bracket, overcoming Vitality and OG.
Heroic have joined the elite in the Legends Stage
The matchups were determined based on the team’s Buchholz score, with the two lower-ranked teams with a 3W-1L record facing off first, Vitality and Heroic, while OG awaited in the final game. An uninspired showing from the French-Danish-Israeli side was handled comfortably by Heroic on Saturday, who lost second map Inferno in overtime but swept Overpass and Mirage 16-5.
The match against OG was a more contested one, with Martin “stavn” Lund needing to put in a strong performance to ensure his team the Legends spot, averaging a 1.22 rating across the series. René “TeSeS” Madsen was also important, having struggled on the first maps but bouncing back on the decider to convert the series win.
