Jiri Prochazka Pulls Out of UFC 282

Jiri Prochazka is to be sidelined for at least six months after hurting his shoulder in the process of preparing for his first title defence. It is reported that his intended opponent Glover Teixeira who was looking to win his title back after suffering a loss from Jiri will not be fighting at all. Instead, the new headline will be Jan Blachowicz vs Magomed Ankalaev, a fight that was initially intended as the co-main event. Both fighters were arguably one fight away from a title fight, but will now fight it out for the vacant Light Heavyweight strap.

New Main Event: Jan Blachowicz (3.10) vs (1.37) Magomed Ankalaev

Jan Blachowicz will get the chance to be a two time Light Heavyweight champion after having lost it in dominant fashion to Glover Teixeira. He fights Magomed Ankalaev, a Russian Dagestan fighter, Dagestan fighters are known for their dominant style of wrestling. Magomed prefers to mix it up with his striking. He has 18 wins, and 1 loss, the 1 loss coming in the literal last second of a fight he was dominating. He has only lost to Paul Craig. Jan Blachowicz is the underdog in the fight, despite being the more experienced fighter by level of competition.

New co-main: Paddy Pimblett (1.50) vs (2.60) Jared Gordon

Although his days of reigning as the welterweight champion have passed us by, he is still able to go through wars every time he steps into the cage. Every time he steps into the octagon, you know he is bringing violence with him.Ponzinibbio opened as the favourite, but he should not make the mistake of believing that this will be an easy fight, Lawler was known for bringing pain to men, and that part has not changed. This could be the fight of the night.

Bryce Mitchell (2.35) vs (1.60) Ilia Topuria

It is the battle of the undefeated, and it will be an exciting one. Bryce Mitchell is ranked 9th in the featherweight division, whilst Ilia Topuria is ranked 14th. It is almost certain that the winner could be looking at a top 5 fight next. Besides Mitchell being ranked as the higher fighter, he is still the underdog and many have Ilia Topuria winning the fight.
