Monday Must-Play—‘Gun Raiders’

We’re back with our latest Monday Must-Play! This weekly article series highlights Meta Quest 2 VR games you don’t want to miss. Each week, we encourage readers to share their thoughts about the chosen game in our Monday Must-Play Game Club on Facebook as well as across social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and others using the #MondayMustPlay hashtag.

Without further ado, let’s dig into this week’s Monday Must-Play: Gun Raiders!

The small team of indie developers working on Gun Raiders has tapped into a very carefully balanced formula of what can make a multiplayer VR shooter so addictive and fun. There’s an active community of players always online, there are tons of maps, weapons, and game modes, and, crucially, there are compelling reasons to keep playing and coming back for more. Oh, and did we mention it’s free-to-play as well?

The idea for Gun Raiders is dead simple: Take the fast-paced and chaotic fun of old-school FPS games like Quake, put that feeling in VR, then strap a jetpack to your back and add the ability to climb any surface so it’s always non-stop mayhem. The tutorial does a great job of getting you up to speed with the controls, and the arsenal of weaponry at your disposal ranges from the most basic pistols and SMGs to a deadly bow and arrow, rocket launcher, and even enormous punching gauntlets.

Between standard deathmatch modes, point-control, and more with numerous maps, you can get lost in Gun Raiders as the hours fly by. And just like many of the most popular free-to-play games, Gun Raiders has a Season Pass system with plenty of free rewards, but even more are unlocked if you pay a small fee to get the premium pass while the season is active.

By completing mission objectives during a match and even just completing games, you’ll level up and unlock new rewards like cosmetic skins for your weapons and different characters to use. It’s a very well-balanced loop that ensures you’re always progressing when you’re playing.

I’ve been having a lot of fun with Gun Raiders, so if you’re digging the game too make sure and let us know on social media. Gun Raiders originally began life as an App Lab game on Quest before launching on the Meta Quest Store in late 2021. The developers were even included in a video session from Connect last year with tips on finding success on App Lab.

Gun Raiders is available nowon Quest 2 as a free-to-play game with optional microtransactions. Don’t forget to join the Monday Must-Play Game Club on Facebook to chat with other VR gamers about the games each week and share your thoughts, screenshots, video clips, and more on social media using the#MondayMustPlay hashtag.
