Thomas Attema, a distinguished senior cryptologist from the Applied Cryptography and Quantum Applications department of TNO, brings an invaluable blend of classical and quantum cryptography expertise to the IQT the Hague conference in April 2024. His dual affiliation with TNO and his membership in the cryptology group at CWI, the Dutch Research Center for Mathematics and Computer Science, situates Attema at the forefront of cryptographic research and development. With a PhD from the Mathematical Institute at Leiden University, his academic and research endeavors focus on advancing cryptographic techniques designed to utilize data to preserve privacy and secure against potential quantum adversaries.

Attema’s work at TNO is pivotal in the era of quantum computing, where the threat to current cryptographic standards is becoming increasingly apparent. His research aims to address these challenges by developing cryptographic solutions capable of withstanding quantum computers’ computational capabilities. This involves designing, analyzing, and implementing cryptographic algorithms that protect data privacy and secure communications in a post-quantum world.

During the IQT The Hague conference, Thomas Attema is expected to delve into the critical issues surrounding quantum-resistant cryptography, sharing insights from his cutting-edge research at TNO on privacy-preserving cryptographic techniques and defenses against quantum adversaries. His presentation will likely highlight the necessity of transitioning to quantum-safe cryptographic protocols to safeguard digital infrastructure and information in the quantum age.

IQT The Hague 2024 is the Netherlands’ fifth global conference and exhibition. The Hague is a Quantum Technology Event focusing on Quantum Networking and Quantum Security. Ten vertical topics encompassing more than 40-panel talks from over 100 speakers will provide attendees with a deep understanding of state-of-the-art developments of the future quantum internet and the current impact of quantum-safe technologies on cybersecurity and quantum computers.

The conference brings together corporate management, entrepreneurs, end users, technology providers, infrastructure partners, researchers, and investors working on current developments. IQT The Hague is organized by 3DR Holdings, IQT Research, QuTech, QIA (Quantum Internet Alliance), and Quantum Delta NL, who will bring leading organizations and professionals together in this important event. The April conference is “in-person” to ensure maximum networking and discussion at the Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre in The Hague.
