Global B2B cross-border payment company Thunes has announced the appointment of Floris de Kort as its new CEO to bolster its growth strategy. He will operate from Thunes’ global headquarters in Singapore.

In a strategic shift, the company has also promoted Peter De Caluwe to the role of Deputy Chairman, where he will focus on strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and expanding the company’s presence in key markets such as China and the Gulf countries.

De Kort, known for his expertise in the payments sector, joins Thunes with a history of scaling companies to global prominence. His previous roles include CEO of Global eCommerce at Worldpay, where he led the company to a successful IPO in 2015, and CEO of TSG, a software and integrated payments solutions provider.

During his tenure at TSG, De Kort managed a series of acquisitions and the company’s merger with Clearent to form Xplor Technologies.

The company had recently made another key hire to its executive team by appointing Chloé Mayenobe as its new Chief Operating Officer on the heels of its upsized US$ 72 million Series C fundraise in July 2023.

Thunes has developed a proprietary network for global, instant, and cost-effective money movement, operates in 133 countries and serves over three billion consumers and businesses. The company focuses on providing payment solutions in emerging markets and segments.

In September last year, Thunes had expanded its payment acceptance network in Southeast Asia to include Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
