Benidorm’s new 300 sqm cylindrical screen is an LED Dream

One of the largest outdoor circular LED screens in Europe has been built in the Spanish Costa Blanca resort of Benidorm.

The 22-metre high Tecnohito screen, which covers more than 300 square metres in total, was designed and developed by the Barcelona-based LED Dream Group.

The digital attraction is intended to be used for advertising, public and entertainment events and is located on the resort’s Avenida del Mediterráneo which has undergone comprehensive remodelling.

The screen has already served as a backdrop to a live Eurovision Song Contest broadcast, performances by finalists from the Benidorm Fest song contest, and has attracted advertising from Visit Benidorm, Spanish water company FCC, and McDonald’s.

The 16/32mm pixel pitch modular outdoor LED screen was custom made to requirements set by Benidorm City Council.

  • It is made with a modular LED curtain system which reduces its weight to 13kg/ sq metre.
  • It has a high level of transparency (67%) which prevents it being affected by the wind and which allows a high degree of visibility of the digital icon’s structure and integration.
  • Its brightness is fully adjustable up to 6,500 nits, and special nighttime content is provided which avoids dazzling or disturbing the construction’s neighbours.
  • Among other special characteristics, there is no gap between cabinets, with the LED panels forming a perfect, polygonal curve.

In addition to the construction of the Tecnohito LED cylinder, the remodelling of the city’s Avenida del Mediterráneo included a Tecnoparada, a two-storey high marquee providing information about the city’s bus services, together with advertising. The marquee includes a 15.36m x 2.048m LED screen with a pixel pitch of 16 / 32 mm.
