Bored Ape NFTs Inspire New Limited Edition M&Ms

Possibly the most delicious real-world use of NFTs ever

The first chocolates with M&Ms have barely launched, and they are already selling out. On Wednesday, candy brand Mars announced a deal that would unite Bored Apes and M&Ms. This is yet another fine execution of the commercial rights that BAYC and MAYC owners have on their NFTs.

Mars signed a deal with 10:22PM, a Universal Music Group label that represents the virtual band Kingship – made up of Bored Ape Yacht Club and Mutant Ape Yacht Club avatars. The NFTs had been previously licensed by the entrepreneur Jimmy McNelis and are now printed in the special edition candy.

This is a groundbreaking release that sees one of America’s most established brands team up with a band of NFTs that aims to perform in the Metaverse.

In the official press release, Mars’ Global Vice President, stated that:

“Consumers’ expectations for what they want from their favorite brands shifted. At Mars, we know we need to be more innovative than ever with such a culturally famous brand like M&M’s. We’re excited to continue our Mars foray into the Metaverse through this partnership with 10:22PM and KINGSHIP, as a way to engage our fans in a new and exciting space.”

Kingship, the band or supergroup of three BAYC NFTs and one MAYC, shares the manager Nicholas Adler with none other than Snoop Dogg.The new M&Ms featuring the Ape NFTs are available for purchase in the United States on M&Ms’ official website. One of the three NFT-inspired products sold out on the same day.

NFTs in everyday businesses

Mars isn’t the only famous company adhering to Web3 brands. Also this month, Tiffany’s turned CryptoPunks NFTs into wearable jewelry.
