‘MaskMaker’ Is an All-New Magical VR Adventure from the Creators of ‘A Fisherman’s Tale’

In 2017, players across the globe fell in love with the magical storytelling and VR puzzle gameplay of A Fisherman’s Tale. And today, the team behind the industry-favorite is back on Meta Quest 2 with MaskMaker—a game that trades A Fisherman’s Tale’s mind-bending, cozy lighthouse rooms for magical realms of mystery and wonder.

“The idea for MaskMaker came from my childhood. I grew up surrounded by masks as my father is a collector and I spent a lot of time in his workshop,” says Innerspace VR Creative Director Balthazar Auxietre. “One day it dawned on me that we could play with the core concept of magical masks—whimsical and wondrous things that let people step into new characters and change how they interact with the world around them. And so a new, slightly darker and mysterious concept for a VR puzzle adventure was born, one that would let us take our players into much larger VR worlds for them to discover.”

In MaskMaker, you play as an apprentice and learn the magic of crafting masks. By solving mysteries in the game’s realms, you’ll retrieve magical materials, tools, and skills to create more and more complex masks. Each mask will help you progress on your way to uncovering the truth about the “mask realm”—and to unravel the secret identity of Prospero, a being who appears to rule it.
