Last month, we teamed up with the Forever Young Foundation to launch the newly built Creators Zone at the Johnson STEM Activity Center in Atlanta, Georgia. We’re honored to partner with the Forever Young Foundation to provide teens with access to VR technology.
The Creators Zone is an extension of Forever Young Foundation’s existing 8 to 80 Zones—a collaboration between Steve Young (#8) and Jerry Rice (#80) that provide teens living in underserved communities with the skills they need to pursue careers in technology, esports, gaming, and media.
By providing teens with access to Meta Quest 2, as well as games and apps like NFL PRO ERA, our goal is to help introduce them to this groundbreaking new technology so they’re better equipped to reach their full potential as the metaverse emerges.
NFL Hall of Famer Steve Young spoke at the Creators Zone launch celebration on November 15, where he was joined by Dr. Lonnie Johnson and Meta’s own Robbyn Ennis. Students from the Ron Clark Academy were also in attendance and able to get hands-on with Meta Quest 2 during the event.
“The metaverse and our Creators Zones will bring with them a world of new opportunities. Jerry [Rice] and I believe early access for our youth is key to ensuring everyone’s success,” says Young. “By giving teens access to virtual reality technology, training, and experiences in under-served communities, this partnership will help level the playing field and ensure everyone has a shot at greatness in STEM fields and the arts.”
