Modulo Pi to launch upgraded Modulo Kinetic server at ISE

Modulo Pi will launch the Modulo Kinetic Version 5 media server – which paves the way for engaging interactive experiences in permanent installations and live events, without the need for coding – at ISE 2023.

The latest iteration of the company’s fully integrated media server features real-time timelines and an embedded live mixer, while its 3D engine and show control tools are brought within a single consistent user-friendly environment. The scalable platform relies on Kinetic Designer, an intuitive user interface with dedicated workstation, connected to one or more V-Node servers.

Yannick Kohn, the founder and chief executive of Modulo Pi, said: “While the demand for interactive experiences is significantly growing, their creation and implementation often seemed over-complicated and based on costly custom developments. Based on this observation, we’ve upgraded the Modulo Kinetic with new features to provide a unified, yet versatile, solution tailored for interactive experiences.”

The Modulo Kinetic V5 offers interactivity through the manipulation of physical sensors or by touchless detection and tracking, and can interact with video, audio, lights, generative content and machinery. To meet the needs and budget of any type of project, it supports a wide array of sensors and control systems including RFID, USB sensors and controllers by Phidgets, 2D LiDARs, Azure Kinect, depth cameras, Leap Motion and 3D LiDARs. As they are integrated in the Modulo Kinetic’s internal library of devices, all sensors can be calibrated in seconds, allowing the media server to retrieve the position of users.

An internal library of effects uses the Modulo Kinetic’s real-time node-based compositing tool, making them available as blocks that can be linked and chained with ease. The server’s timelines allow users to mix pre-calculated and real-time interactive content.

A preview version of the Modulo Kinetic V5 is powering interactive areas at the Fabrique des Lumières and Hall des Lumières digital art centres in Amsterdam and New York respectively.

Modulo Pi will be providing an interactive demo of the Modulo Kinetic V5 on booth 5E210 at ISE 2023, which takes place in Barcelona from 31 January-3 February.
