As part of their agreement with Official Jersey Patch Sponsor Crypto.com, the Philadelphia 76ers announced the debut of the team’s first-ever Legacy NFT Collection.

It was announced Thursday that the first of 13 drops from the collection would be made available on Crypto.com. On “Spirit of 76,” when the team will wear its City Edition jersey, each custom-designed collectible will commemorate a crucial occasion in the franchise’s Spectrum-era history and will be unveiled at the Spectrum.

The latest drop commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first game played on the Spectrum, which took place on October 18, 1967.

First game at the Spectrum

When the Philadelphia 76ers moved from the Philadelphia Civic Center, they played their first game in the Philadelphia Spectrum in front of over 9,000 fans, which was a record for the team.

The Philadelphia 76ers outplayed the Los Angeles Lakers 103-87. Billy Cunningham and Wilt Chamberlain, both members of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, led the charge for the host team.

In addition to his 20 points, Cunningham pulled down a game-high 30 rebounds and added nine assists. Chamberlain finished with 11 points and a game-high 30 rebounds and nine assists.

Authenticated NFT drops

76ers President of Business Operations Chris Heck said in a statement released by the NBA that NFTs are an “exciting new collectible space, and one through which we will pay homage to great moments in franchise history during the Spectrum era of 76ers basketball.”

The tickets, which were designed and animated by renowned Brazilian artist Black Madre, were part of 13 officially licensed and authenticated NFT drops.

The Legacy NFT Collection is divided into three levels, each of which is considered extremely rare: the Original, the Banner, and the Signature. Besides one Original series, each drop will also feature 49 mystery packs, for a total of 50 items in each drop.

Each of these packs contains one piece of collectible art from the Banner or Signature series, which can either be unwrapped and kept or traded on Crypto.com/NFT.
