Schools drive record-breaking global sales of IFPDs

Global sales of interactive flat panel displays have enjoyed record growth during 2022, driven by demand from schools.

Sales were up 15% year on year in the second quarter, and up 20% in the third quarter of the year, according to research by Futuresource Consulting.

Some 700,000 interactive flat panel displays were sold around the world in the second quarter of 2022, with the education sector accounting for 80% of sales.

Across the world, Italy recorded its largest-ever quarter for sales, with Q2 sales up 29% over Q1. The Indian market is taking off, with Q2 sales up 38% on Q1, and Q2 seeing the country’s highest ever sales. In the USA, too, sales were at their highest ever in Q2, with volumes up 27% on Q1.

In a published research summary, the market research consultancy said: “Now that pandemic is more comfortably behind us, the scrambling for devices and tools has subsided. Rather than focusing purely on price, education providers are looking for features and software that most adequately meet the needs of the classroom. This is opening a window for higher-price point products with a concentrated focus on quality.

“Teachers are seeking IFPDs that create a collaborative and engaging environment. Features like multiple touchpoints, compatibility, screen size options, mobile device management (MDM), and screen mirroring will undoubtedly be major considerations for education providers. With the market encountering promising growth, these features can be implemented on a greater scale and rolled out globally. The result will be an easier and smoother learning environment, enhancing education across the board.”
