THREAT parts ways with Ninjas in Pyjamas

After a year in the role of Counter-Strike Technical Director, Björn “THREAT” Pers has announced on Twitter that he will no longer be working for Ninjas in Pyjamas.

The Swede joined Ninjas in Pyjamas as their Head Coach in 2016 after transitioning into coaching the previous year on Acer. During his time with the organisation, THREAT had two stints standing behind the team, one from 2016-2018 and the other from 2020-2021.

He then transitioned to his most recent role, which focused on the tactical side of the game and helping the team from outside the server, making way for Ninjas in Pyjamas‘s current coach, Daniel “djL” Narancic.

THREAT is excited for new opportunities in 2023

The last year has been turbulent for Ninjas in Pyjamas as they have undergone various changes and in turn have struggled to establish themselves as one of the top teams in the world. Despite their instability, the team made it deep at tournaments several times throughout the year, including a 3rd-4th placing in their latest outing at the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2022.

THREAT parting ways with the team is not the first change that Ninjas in Pyjamas have had ahead of 2023 as the team recently announced the benching of Patrick “es3tag” Hansen. Recent reports link the Swedish organization with the signing of former NAVI Junior AWPer Daniil “headtr1ck” Valitov as es3tag‘s replacement.

For THREAT the future is uncertain, but in his statement on Twitter he alludes to the fact that he prefers being a Head Coach over his most recent role at Ninjas in Pyjamas.

“Trying out a new role this past year has been a learnful experience, but I sincerely miss working closely with a team, having a more direct impact,” THREAT said. “I am super excited for upcoming new opportunities in 2023!”

Ninjas in Pyjamas are currently:

Finland Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen
Sweden Fredrik “REZ” Sterner
Sweden Hampus “hampus” Poser
Sweden Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin

Sweden Daniel “djL” Narancic (coach)

Denmark Patrick “es3tag” Hansen (benched)
