Traka Key Management Systems Help Property Managers Comply with S.B….

Traka Americas offers an electronic key control system compliant with the property and key management requirements of “Miya’s Law.”

“Resident safety is paramount in our business,” said Larry Green, Director of Property Management for the Traka Americas division.

Traka Americas, an ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions division, today announced their electronic key cabinets provide an immediate solution for property managers needing compliance with the newly signed S.B. 898 “Miya’s Law.” Traka, the global pioneer in intelligent key and equipment management systems, has been protecting properties and helping property managers keep their communities safer for decades.

Traka Americas, headquartered in Orlando, FL, offers an electronic key control system compliant with the property and key management requirements of “Miya’s Law,” making it easier for property managers to adapt to the new guidelines.

The new policy standards of “Miya’s Law” now require apartments to maintain records for the removal and return of all property keys, and the establishment of policies for their issuance, return, and storage. Additionally, properties will now need to make available an audit of their key and assets usage to the Department of Business and Professional Regulations during their annual inspection of apartments.

The Traka key cabinet system offers customized solutions, such as:

  • Assigning access levels and in/out curfews for keys
  • Creating scheduling triggers that limit checkouts to specific days, hours, or actions
  • Tagging a key to its unit and receiving an email when the key is accessed and by whom
  • Receiving an instant email or SMS alert to monitor key activity
  • High-Capacity key storage, expandable to meet the needs of all sized properties

“Resident safety is paramount in our business,” said Larry Green, Director of Property Management for the Traka Americas division.

“Property managers know the challenges of overseeing key inventory and the great risks associated with a misplaced or stolen key. Installing an electronic key management system shows they are serious about tenant safety,” continued Green. “Without complete control and visibility over the use of their keys, they often won’t know there is a problem until a tragedy occurs. We applaud Governor DeSantis for this action and believe the new law will likely inspire similar laws across the country.”

Traka also offers its exclusive SmartFob ID Reader, which enables keys to remain unlabeled for resident safety outside the cabinet keeping tenants safe. The reader provides fast electronic identification of keys in the field, facilitating safe and efficient bulk key checkouts for routine maintenance or inspections with full accountability. The device can also display any needed precautions or reminders related to the unit, such as a hearing-impaired resident or an animal on premises.
