Bluzelle rolls out decentralized storage for NFT content on mainnet

The InterPlanetary File System protocol’s lack of immutability prompted the development of the solution, a less-discussed storage format that currently serves as a barometer for the bulk of NFT assets, including Cryptopunks and Beeple.

Jonty Wareing, a Twitter user, presented a popular analysis of IPFS’s basic weaknesses for NFT initiatives:

“The NFT token you purchased either points to a URL on the internet, or an IPFS hash,” Wareing said. In most cases, he added that it “references an IPFS portal on the internet operated by the startup you acquired the NFT from.”

“Oh, and that URL is not the media itself, but a JSON metadata file,” Wareing said.

Bluzelle stated in their release that popular use-cases for their service include NFT content surrounding 3D digital art or video reels.

In an interview with CoinTelegraph, Pavel Bains, chief executive officer of Bluzelle, shared his thoughts on the importance of NFT assets and data shifting from IPFS storage to a fudecentralized system:

“The IPFS is a decentralized network, however it does not guarantee decentralized storage. Your NFT sits only in one node and that node can drop.”

Bains further explained that if users don’t want to take such risk, “they should be using systems like Bluzelle,” which, according to him, can assure assets are “secured in multiple places at once.”

Bluzelle’s infrastructure has already been installed on Mintable, and it is planned to be put on a number of other NFT marketplaces in the coming months, pending successful testing.

Buyers and holders will be reassured that their NFT assets have been safely protected and are resistant to compromise in the case of a platform shutdown if this decentralized methodology is implemented, Bluzelle said.
